This website is mainly about the line of the Tymon family which stretches from 18th Century Ireland through seven generations to 20th Century Scarborough, but many other branches of the family appear at various stages. The story, which is still unfolding, if at an ever slower rate, is the result of ten years of research and the help of many people.
Special thanks go to Chris Vaughan for starting my interest in the subject, Edith Lancaster, Agnes Clara Tymon (Mitchell), Joseph Tymon, Chris Tymon and also to long distance suppliers of information James Brown and Joan Swaney from the United States of America both of whom have Tymons amongst their ancestors.
Much of the information relating to the 1840s onwards has been gathered at the Scarborough library as the Tymon family has been in the Scarborough area since that time and records are therefore quite good. Unfortunately research covering times prior to that period has been much more difficult due to the destruction by fire of many Irish records and the general lack of information relating to Catholic families.
